Top 10 Broken LoL Mythic Items and Champions in Season 11

by Zaraki Kenpachi

The new LoL Mythic items introduced some of the most broken mechanics in League of Legends. It’s no secret that the game is currently far from balanced, with countless builds and champions being able to one-shot an enemy. Even if they’re losing!

So, what does this mean for LoL and the mythic items and champions? Well, on the first note, it means that the developers have quite a bit of work to do with the mythic items in LoL before season 11 finally kicks in. So many aspects of the game, as we knew them in the past, are now non-existent or totally changed. Unit collision is one of the main topics that the community complained about being utterly unrecognizable. Champions constantly bug out or get stuck in a place between minions, and no one can understand why this is happening.

But confusing as it might be, we can all pass it by, except the mythic items! We gotta admit that some of the mythic items are so broken that they make little to no sense why they were put in LoL in the first place. And on top of that, we have the new economy in League of Legends, where one role/champion can buy a mythic item much earlier than another. Which, in turn, lets him bully them and ultimately win the game. Hmm, not entirely fair!

So far, we’ve seen countless strange one-shots in the preseason, and more are coming every day. The new champion and mythic item combos can be very scary if you play LoL even a bit seriously. If you play these champions, then make sure to take advantage of their mythic items and abuse them as much as possible. And if you do not play them, then make sure to ban them in your ranked games! Let’s go!

Top 10 Most Broken Champions and Mythic Items

10. Zed with Duskblade of Draktharr

Champion Zed
LoL Mythic item - Duskblade of Draktharr

Duskblade of Draktharr (55 Attack Damage, 18 Lethality, 20 Ability Haste)

Nightstalker: Attacking a champion deals an additional (75 + 30% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage and Slows them by 99% for 0.25 seconds (15s cooldown). When a champion that you have damaged within the last 3 seconds dies, this cooldown is refreshed and you become Invisible for 1.5 seconds.

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 5 Ability Haste.

Cost: 3200 (1000)

Alright, we start it off with Zed, the Master of Shadows, and the new mythic edition of Duskblade of Draktharr. Right now, Duskblade is perhaps the most powerful mythic item in LoL, especially on Zed. One of the key elements to playing this champion is hitting your full combo right as you exit the ultimate – Death Mark, so it does more damage. Well, Duskblade now applies a freaking 99% slow for a brief time, which can be enough to hit all 2 or 3 shurikens at the target. And it’s also fantastic for poking successfully in lane.

Duskblade of Draktharr builds the same way as it did before, which means that not only can Zed start the game with a Long Sword, but he can pile on it until he completes the whole item. The additional stats also benefit him greatly, because, with enough Lethality, Zed can now remove even tanks from the Rift. Plus, the Ability Haste works just amazing with his kit.

But the best part about this combo is that Duskblade now grants invisibility if you score a kill. This is pretty much a free escape besides the option to return back to your initial shadow of Death Mark.

9. Talon with Prowler’s Claw

Champion Talon
LoL Mythic item - Prowler's Claw

Prowler’s Claw (55 Attack Damage, 18 Lethality, 10 Ability Haste)

Active – From the Shadows: Dash through target enemy, dealing (100 + 30% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage. For the next 3 seconds, you deal 15% increased damage to the target. (60s cooldown).

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 5 Lethality

Cost: 3200 (1000)

If you heard that season 11 is an “assassin meta”, then you heard right. Talon is another champion that currently works wonders in LoL with the mythic item Prowler’s Claw. What Prowler’s Claw does is that it gives you a free dash on a targeted enemy champion on a 60 seconds cooldown. And if you don’t find that impressive, then let us tell you that this doesn’t break any invisibility in the game!

So, Talon can basically pop his ultimate up and enter invisibility, then quickly jump on whichever enemy he is after. Prowler’s Claw will give him a nice damaging buff for 3 seconds, which is sufficient for Talon to hit all of his abilities and slay that target.

There is currently no counterplay to this mechanic, except with Zhonya’s Hourglass. But even then, you have to be ready to activate it earlier than you’re used to because Talon is now overall faster in reaching you. Prowler’s Claw is just an excellent item that solves his weakest point – his predictability.

8. Shaco with Prowler’s Claw

Champion Shaco
LoL Mythic item - Prowler's Claw

Prowler’s Claw (55 Attack Damage, 21 Lethality, 10 Ability Haste)

Active – From the Shadows: Dash through target enemy, dealing (100 + 30% bonus Attack Damage) physical damage. For the next 3 seconds, you deal 15% increased damage to the target. (60s cooldown).

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 5 Lethality

Cost: 3200 (1000)

And speaking of Prowler’s Claw, we have to mention Shaco as well. The idea here is kind of similar to that of Talon, but Shaco is far deadlier. Honestly, this is one of the most unbalanced changes that has ever existed in League of Legends, and can easily be a number one on this list!

So, whenever Shaco uses his Q – Deceive, he can also use the Prowler’s Claw active and not break the invisibility. But what makes it truly broken is that Prowler’s Claw will almost always land him behind his enemy’s back, which is perfect for triggering his passive – Backstab. The critical strike from his out-of-invisibility hit can devastate any squishy champion and almost guarantee a kill.

On the other note, Shaco can also use Prowler’s Claw in combination with his ultimate to jump behind an enemy while the clone sits far back. This introduces new tricks to how Shaco players can fool opponents, and if you’re one, you should probably start experimenting now!

7. Master Yi with Kraken Slayer

Champion Master Yi
LoL Mythic item - Kraken Slayer

Kraken Slayer (60 Attack Damage, 25% Attack Speed, 20% Critical Strike Chance)

Bring It Down: Every third Attack deals an additional (80 + 30% bonus Attack Damage) true damage.

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 10% Attack Speed.

Cost: 3400 (625)

Master Yi is a champion that is generally very hard to counterplay. And with the addition of Kraken Slayer, he also received a direct buff that hits all the right spots for Yi. Kraken Slayer perfectly fits the old build path of Master Yi, because he usually went for the same stats.

The bonus attack speed, crit chance, and damage are all great, but the unique passive is game-breaking! Every third auto attack will now deal true damage to any enemy, champion or monster. Combined with the true damage of his E – Wuju Style and his passive – Double Strike, Master Yi can easily proc this effect, which by the way, has no cooldown at all!

And the scariest thing is that you can’t do anything about it. Yes, you can try to stun Master Yi, but he can disappear in Q – Alpha Strike! With Kraken Slayer in his inventory, he can solo the Baron as early as the 20-minute mark and massacre enemies left and right.

6. Kha’Zix with Duskblade of Draktharr

Champion Kha'Zix

Kha’Zix has done some pretty nasty work this preseason too. With the addition of Duskblade of Draktharr, he received a direct buff on his damage. The mythic item synergizes perfectly with his kit and what his abilities do.

Kha’Zix’s central damaging ability is his Q – Taste Their Fear, which does a tremendous amount of damage. However, this is more than doubled when he attacks an isolated target from stealth (because of his passive – Unseen Threat). Combined with the bonus damage on the first hit of Duskblade, with enough AD Kha’Zix can literally kill a target with one Q. And we’ll remind you that the effect of the mythic item resets after every kill or assist.

With Duskblade of Draktharr as a mythic item, Kha’Zix is destroying every jungle matchup currently in LoL. And even when he falls behind, he still has great chances to eliminate squishy targets or carries in the enemy team, making him the ideal jungle pick.

5. Draven with Immortal Shieldbow

Draven
LoL Mythic item - Immortal Shieldbow

Immortal Shieldbow (50 Attack Damage, 15% Attack Speed, 20% Critical Strike Chance, 12% Life Steal)

Lifeline: When taking damage that would reduce you below 30% Health, gain a 250 – 330 Shield for 3s. In addition, gain 15% Life Steal for 8s (90s cooldown).

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 5 Attack Damage and 50 Health.

Cost: 3400 (600)

Draven is the first ADC champion that will probably get seriously OP in season 11. Immortal Shieldbow is his ticket to glory because not only it grants him all the stats he needs, but also prevents him from dying.

Draven is unique to most marksmen champions because he is kind of a duelist, rather than a runner. Once he starts hitting someone, he rarely stops. That’s why he constantly needs supporting or at least tons of lifesteal in order to stay alive and keep pumping out damage. And Immortal Shieldbow gives him a huge shield whenever he drops to 30% HP and an 8-second window to gain all his health back, as long as he continues hitting.

Plus the mythic passive stacks base damage and health with each next item, which is very valuable on this champion!

4. Gangplank with Trinity Force

Champion Gangplank
LoL Mythic item - Trinity Force

Trinity Force (35 Attack Damage, 35% Attack Speed, 200 Health, 10 Ability Haste)

Swift Strikes: Attacks grant 25 Move Speed for 3 seconds. If the target is a champion, increase your base Attack Damage by 6% for 3 seconds, stacking up to 5 times (Max increase 0).

Spellblade: After using an Ability, your next Attack is enhanced with an additional (200% base Attack Damage) physical damage (1.5s cooldown).

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 10 Attack Speed.

Cost: 3333 (733)

One surprising change in this preseason was the transition of Trinity Force over to the rank of LoL mythic items. It’s strange because the very idea of this item was to be a power spike for mid-to-late game champions which are typically weaker early on. But now, the prices of the adjoining items are lower, and Sheen costs now 700 gold!

This had a massive impact on Gangplank who only works well with Trinity force. Now, he can purchase Sheen on his first back to base and then bully every opponent in the lane with his Q – Parrrley. And because the combining items are so cheaper, he can quickly rise to power as early as the 10th minute. Plus, not to mention that Tear of Goddess is now a 400 gold item, which Gangplank can buy and turn it to Muramana to decimate his opponents.

All in all, Gangplank is one of the strongest champions right now and can comfortably carry games without a sweat.

3. Caitlyn with Galeforce

Champion Caitlyn
LoL Mythic item - Galeforce

Galeforce (55 Attack Damage, 20% Attack Speed, 20% Critical Strike Chance)

Active – Cloudburst: Dash in target direction, firing three missiles at the lowest-health enemy near your destination (prioritizing champions). Deals a total of (180 – 220 (based on level) + 45% bonus Attack Damage) magic damage, increased against low-Health targets by up to 50% (90s cooldown).

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 3% Move Speed

Maximum missile damage dealt when enemy Health is below 30%.

Cost: 3400 (625)

Caitlyn received a significant change in her mechanics, thanks to Galeforce. Galeforce can interrupt Caitlyn’s E – 90 Caliber Net, but won’t remove the Headshot passive. If you aren’t sure what this means, it simply states that Caitlyn can essentially shortcut the animation of her E, if she uses Galeforce quickly enough, then blast her opponent with a critical strike.

But, with that comes all the new flavor of this mechanic! Galeforce’s active allows you to dash on a targeted location, which can be pretty much everywhere. So not only you can use E to power up your next auto attack with a Headshot, but you can also combine it with Galeforce to dodge anything that comes your way. This requires some quick fingers, but you can easily master it if you practice it enough.

Because of Galeforce, Caitlyn is now a bit more difficult champion, but also more rewarding. And if you can line up everything perfectly, you can take down enemies much faster than before!

2. Pyke with Duskblade of Draktharr

Champion Pyke

Pyke also received some free tickets to victory this preseason, most notably Duskblade of Draktharr and Prowler’s Claw. And while Prowler’s Claw helps him to set up his stun on E – Phantom Undertow, Duskblade of Draktharr breaks the game with his repeatable ultimate – Death from Below.

If, in a teamfight, Pyke gets an assist or a kill, with Duskblade of Draktharr he can reuse his R while being invisible. This means that not only you can’t stop him, but you can’t even dodge his ultimate too. You will not see where he’ll strike from and unless you have a Flash, chances are you’re 100% dead. This also doesn’t have a cooldown, so Pyke can literally get a Pentakill while being invisible the whole time!

Not to mention that the slow effect of Duskblade of Draktharr resets on champion kill/assist, so nothing can really escape Pyke anymore!

1. Amumu with Sunfire Aegis

Champion Amumu
LoL Mythic item - Sunfire Aegis

Sunfire Aegis (450 Health, 30 Armor, 30 Magic Resist, 15 Ability Haste)

Immolate: Deal (20 – 40 (based on level) + 1% bonus Health) magic damage per second to nearby enemies (increased by 50% against minions and 200% against monsters). Damaging Champions or Epic Monsters with this effect adds a stack, increasing subsequent Immolate damage by 12% for 5 seconds (max stacks 6).

Flametouch: At maximum Immolate stacks, your Attacks burn nearby enemies for your Immolate damage per second for 3 seconds.

Mythic Passive: Grants all other Legendary items 5 Ability Haste.

Cost: 3200 (700)

And this one became a worldwide meme because no one really expected Amumu to be the most OP champion in the preseason! But Sunfire Aegis slid in as perhaps the most broken mythic item in LoL. And it isn’t really Amumu that is too strong with this mythic, but any tank really.

The damage of Sunfire Aegis is seriously wrongly calculated. What makes it unbalanced is that it doubles the damage against monsters and jungle camps, but it also stacks up to 6 times! And, when you reach 6 stacks, your auto attacks also burn down enemies. In other words, Amumu, Rammus, and the rest of the squad don’t have to do anything but walk next to you until you perish. And just take a look at how quickly he can take the Baron down!

Riot said that they’re going to nerf Sunfire Aegis or at least balance some of its influences sometimes soon. But if they do a poor job of it, then we’re looking at many 20 minute Baron takedowns in season 11. Not to mention Rift Heralds and Dragon Souls.

Honorable Mentions

So far, season 11 has been kind of a clown fiesta. The amount of randomness and inconsistency League of Legends has made everyone search for the new OP and broken item or a champion. And while we featured the 10 most obvious ones here, there are dozens of other combos that can easily take over this list.

For example, Lee sin with the new Stridebreaker mythic item looks very powerful and also has one more way to perform an inSec kick. The same goes for Fiora with Goredrinker who can now take any champion in a 1v1 duel and win. And Viktor with Luden’s Tempest transforms into a monster in the early game, as well as the mid and late game.

Things are looking pretty weird right now, but we’re sure that, given more time, people will find the most OP builds for the next year of League of Legends. However, it’s wise to use the power of these champions and their mythic items to dominate LoL right now!
