Welcome the future! Cyberpunk 2077 is set to release in November 2024, this date is not that far away, so we still have some time to kill before we can actually play and experience the game. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most hyped up and highly anticipated video games in recent years, so while we wait, let’s figure out why it is so and take a look at the top 5 reasons to play Cyberpunk 2077. Before we proceed, keep in mind that this list is in no particular order and entirely subjective. With that out of the way, let’s get into it.
1. The ability to choose your own playstyle
Starting off with our number one pick which is the freedom to choose your own playing style. Many video games offer the player a lot of freedom when it comes to completing a certain mission or objective, but most of the time, the game itself would point out the most optimal route for the player to take or the most efficient way to dispatch of an enemy. However, there are numerous articles online stating that Cyberpunk 2077 will allow the players free reign on how they choose to complete their missions. Those players who want to sneak around while silently dispatching of all enemies without leaving a single trace of their previous presence can now do that. Those who wish to take a more direct approach and go in guns blazing and ruthlessly shooting everything and everyone in their path can also do so. If you want to try and focus on hacking and manipulation in order to get your way, you can do that too. In short, every player will be able to customize and choose the playstyle that suits them the best and that they can have the most fun with.
2. Your Choices Matter
It has been a rising trend among newer video games to allow players the option to choose how they want a specific arc of the story or an event to unfold. In fact, some games solely focus on these choices as a gameplay mechanic and depending on what the protagonist chooses to say or do, the outcome of a certain situation, and eventually, the ending of the game will change. While this is certainly interesting and adds depth to the story and the whole experience, Cyberpunk has decided to kick things up a notch in this area. While all choices that the player makes will affect the ending of the game, not choosing to do anything in particular situations or even failing to complete specific objectives will also affect how your story progresses and eventually ends. This creates many possibilities and while some are worried that this might cause players to stray away too much and lose focus from the main story, we are confident that this will not be the case.
3. A Great story
Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a Night City in Northern Carolina and the story of our protagonist V, begins at the character creation screen. Depending on whether the player chooses to start as a Street Kid, a Nomad, or a Corporate, the story will begin in a certain location. The story of the Street Kids will begin their story at a bar and be tasked with settling some debt they have. Nomads’ story begins outside of Night City where they get arrested for smuggling contraband. Finally, those who choose to start as Corporates will begin as Araska agents who get their cybernetics removed after a certain incident. While not much information regarding the story has been revealed, we do know that we will be going on a journey through six different parts of Night City in search of an implant that can make a person immortal. On your journey, you will get introduced to many different factions, each with their own beliefs, points of view, and each of them doing their own thing in order to survive.
4. Bonus Content
Nearing the end of our list here at number four, we are looking at a lot of upcoming extra content. CD Projekt Red has been recently gaining the reputation of being an extremely customer friendly company and they have proven that more than a few times in the last few months. During the buzz of the new upcoming generation of consoles, they were among the first companies to state that the new generation version of the game will be completely free for customers who have purchased the game for the previous generation. Going further with their customer-friendly practices, CD Projekt Red has stated that the upcoming DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077 will be completely free of charge. Alongside the first DLC, it is very likely that we will be getting the multiplayer mode as well. All in all, it is a lot of extra content for the price of a single AAA game which is truly a good reason to play Cyberpunk 2077.
5. Marvelous Graphics And Immersion
Finally, at the end of our list, we have the magnificent graphics and immersion of Cyberpunk 2077. It comes as no surprise to anyone that a game released in late 2024 is going to look beautiful, but once again, CD Projekt Red has taken things to a whole new level. With the upcoming releases of the new generation consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, Cyberpunk 2077 is going to look amazing. The game will be using REDengine 4 which is the same engine used for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, however, the implementation of the new ray tracing technology, the lighting, reflection on different surfaces, and the shadows will look much more realistic and by default more immersive. This immersion will be further complemented by the accurate depiction of Night City based on the old Cyberpunk tabletop games as well as the world NPCs who will go about their day doing their own thing. In a recent interview, one of the developers stated that Cyberpunk will have more than 1000 NPCs and each and every one of them will have their own handmade daily routines which will make the Cyberpunk 2077 world feel much more alive and realistic.
